About MedOnline

We are New Zealand first GP-led telemedicine platform. We offer online video consultations with GPs, 365 days per year.

Where We Started

MedOnline was founded in December 2019, to offer video based telehealth to everyone throughout the country. We believe that medicine should be convenient, confidential and accessible by all.

Now based in Auckland, Rory worked as a GP for several years in rural New Zealand. He was concerned by the long distances some patients had to travel to visit one of the scarce local GP surgeries, the time they had to take off work, the long wait times for appointments, and the difficulties in obtaining out of hours care.

Being familiar with online GP services already offered overseas, and the pros and cons of their different offerings, Rory drew on his technology background to develop MedOnline.

Rory also owns and works in Remuera Medical Centre, based in Remuera, Auckland.

Where we are now

MedOnline is one of few specialist online GP services in New Zealand. We have many regular patients, as well as many new patients finding us for the first time.

Because we are online only, we do not aim to replace your regular GP (you remain enrolled with them if you see us, and we do not affect their Government funding (no "clawback")

MedOnline is the country’s leading prescriber of PrEP.

Where we’re going

MedOnline continues to expand/ We are part of the new NZ Telehealth project, which will help us grow and add features.

We will of course be continuing all the existing services we offer.
